She Is the Story
When I opened Freda’s Seafood Grille, I wanted to create the kind of place I’d always dreamed of, a restaurant where people could enjoy fresh seafood, great steaks, wonderful wine, and, most importantly, feel genuinely welcomed.
Growing up working in my mother’s restaurant taught me that great food is only part of the experience. Taking care of people is what keeps them coming back. That lesson has stayed with me throughout my career and continues to guide everything we do today.
For more than 25 years, it’s been my privilege to welcome guests through our doors. Whether it’s your first visit or you’ve been dining with us for years, I hope every meal feels like you’re among friends. Thank you for supporting a locally owned restaurant. We look forward to serving you soon!
How Freda got started
An Austinite since 1969 and a restaurateur for 30 years, Freda opened these doors in 2001 with one goal: give Northwest Austin families and professionals a place to relax over outstanding food at a fair price. No pretense — just a great meal and a warm welcome.
The food she built it around
Freda built her menu around three passions: exceptional wines, fresh Cajun seafood, and hand-cut USDA Prime beef. Gulf Coast Paella, signature steaks, and the famous White Chocolate Bread Pudding still fill tables every night.
Wine dinners, 25 years running
Twice a month, Freda personally hosts a multi-course wine dinner — a long-table evening of thoughtfully paired food and wine that guests come back for year after year. Going strong for over two decades.

Over 20 years in, Freda's is where Northwest Austin marks the moments that matter — anniversary dinners, business lunches, birthday toasts at the bar, and Sunday brunches that stretch past noon. This neighborhood spot is yours.
